Teacher Salaries by State





Interested in finding out information on teacher salaries by state? I’ve compiled a list from the National Education Association (NEA) which includes the beginning teacher salary and the average teacher salaries by state.



Unfortunately teacher motivation is at an all time low. This is because the average starting salary for a teacher is, in some cases, not enough to cover all your living expenses. But this is a battle teachers have been fighting for a long, long time. No matter what the salary of a teacher, we still need good ones! So take a look at the teacher salaries by state to see where you fit in but don’t let it deter you from a rewarding career.

This scale represents the 2005 teacher salary by state with the exception of New York, Minnesota, and Michigan which are from the 04-05 school year. Information from NEA.

As you can see from this teacher salary by state chart, your teacher motivation has to come from something other than financial desires. You can make a living on the salary of a teacher but you need to realize that great teachers aren’t in it for the money.
